Binaries in the Solar System VI

Since the last binaries meeting in 2019, much has changed. The first quadruple asteroid (Elektra) was discovered, DART impacted the asteroid satellite Dimorphos, and Lucy flew past the asteroid Dinkinesh and discovered its contact binary satellite, to name a few. The "Binaries in the Solar System" workshop has typically been held every 3 years, so it is long past due to meet again!

The 6th Binaries in the Solar System workshop will be hosted by the Côte d'Azur Observatory in Nice from 15 to 17 of September 2025. The workshop will be focused on binary and multiple asteroid systems among the NEO, Hungaria, main-belt, Trojan, Centaur, and TNO populations. We hope to gather experts on all binaries-related topics, including their detection, characterisation, formation, and dynamic evolution.

This is the 6th workshop in a series, the previous ones were:

  • 2007  Steamboat Springs, Colorado

  • 2010  Poznan, Poland

  • 2013  Kohala Coast, Hawai'i

  • 2016  Prague, Czech Republic

  • 2019  Fort Collins, Colorado

Note: Due to physical constraints, the meeting will be limited to 80 participants.

The deadline for abstract submission is 25 May 2025, and is free of charge.

A registration fee of €100 will be collected.
